a new day
yup. blogging has become real 2026.
i've wanted to make a website for the longest time but ive never brushed up on my html or started on css. i tried wordpress, shit's obtuse. had a go at a github website, abandoned it. medium? man, i felt like a techbro-self-help-guru that didn't know substack existed. with neocities, i almost gave up (or, really, never properly sat down to do some html), but thanks to strawberry starter, i'm finally at it. granted, the site's a bit more simpler than i'd like so i'll eventually get into htmling something, but it's a start. i finally have a spot online that's MINE.
so why start blogging?
i dunno, it's neat. i've always had a penchant for writing stuff down, it's the whole half of a reason for my letterboxd, backloggd, and youtube. but some things really don't feel like they'd be suitable for video or a social-media-esque website. i hate the idea of video devlogging, most of them are designed with the algorithm in mind and i don't want to succumb to the feeling of needing to keep up an upload schedule for those. when i write a review or essay that i particularly enjoy, i'd like to keep it archived but somewhere somebody could stumble upon. hell, even some more personal-ish stuff like pseudo diary entries or creative writing would be cool to put on a place like this. i guess it amounts to housing a collection of things that are me. my writing, my art, my thoughts, my code, my throwaways, all of it. there's also that old school allure to this that i'm frankly attracted to.
not sure if i'll be able to keep this up forever, or at the very least consistently or even occasionally, but i'm digging the attempt.
